L'Équipe newspaper revealed that Benjamin Mendy offered the medal at an American auction house specializing in sports memorabilia.
Mendy sold the medal for approximately 54,000 euros.
L'Équipe noted that the medal has a crack in its base and minor signs of wear.
The buyer received a certificate of authenticity signed by the player.
Mendy played 40 minutes against Denmark at the end of the group stage in the tournament, while he remained on the bench for the rest of France's campaign in the competition.
Mendy has been playing for Polish club Pogoń Szczecin since September 2025.
Mendy has played 10 international matches for the French national team.
Mendy, who plays as a left-back, has played for clubs including Marseille, Monaco, and Manchester City during his career.
Mendy was acquitted of the rape charges brought against him in July 2023.
