The Egyptian women's national football team jersey sparked controversy in the past hours due to wearing the men's national team jersey, ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The women's team plays against Zambia this Tuesday evening in the first round of the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
A source to Laila Koura explained the reason the women's team is wearing the same men's team jersey, which bears 7 stars representing the number of Africa Cup of Nations titles.
A Laila Koura source said: "The Football Association did not allocate a jersey for the women's team to wear in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament."
He added: "The women's team is accustomed to wearing the men's jersey, as this is not the first time."
The source concluded his statements: "At times, the team was waiting for the 'washing of the jerseys' to wear them."
The women's team is participating in the Africa Cup of Nations for the third time in its history, as it has never advanced beyond the first round.
