Egyptian star Mohamed Salah will miss the upcoming match that the Egypt national team will play against South Sudan in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Egyptian national team will play this match as part of the second round of qualifiers, following a goalless draw with Angola in the first round.

The match between Egypt and South Sudan is scheduled to take place at Juba National Stadium, which features an artificial turf surface.

Therefore, the technical staff of the Egypt national team announced Mohamed Salah's absence from this match to protect him and avoid any risk of injury.

Consequently, Rami Rabia is scheduled to captain the Egypt national team in the upcoming match, as he is the vice-captain after Mohamed Salah among the players selected to participate in the current international break by decision of Hossam Hassan.

The last match in which Rami Rabia wore the Egypt national team captain's armband was against Guinea-Bissau on October 12, 2025, during the final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, where the Egyptian national team achieved a 1-0 victory at Cairo International Stadium.

That match witnessed Mohamed Salah's absence, after the technical staff led by Hossam Hassan decided to rest him following the official qualification for the World Cup finals.

Mohamed Hamdi succeeded in scoring the match's only goal for the Egypt national team, netting the winning goal with a header.

This comes as Rami Rabia prepares to wear the Egypt national team captain's armband again against South Sudan in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Match Time: Egypt vs. South Sudan

The match between the two teams is scheduled for today, Tuesday, at 4:00 PM Cairo time.
