Ahmed Mujahid, the former president of the Football Association, clarified the criteria for clubs to obtain a license to participate in continental championships, stressing that it does not concern only the financial aspect and issues, and explaining the truth about Al Ahly Club's objection to granting the license to Zamalek.
Mujahid said in statements on the program "Al La'ib", on "MBC Masr" channel: "All clubs submit a file related to sports and technical standards, youth teams, training programs, and infrastructure (the team's stadium) whether owned or rented, and this has conditions according to the league or division, and the nature of the club, whether it is a company club or an Ahly club, and some legal matters then the financial and administrative standard related to the license".
He continued: "All these standards are applied to all clubs without exception, and no club will obtain the license unless it meets all those standards. For a while now, we have only been talking about the financial standard and standing at the debts, and there was a final deadline for the license, and since the union announced that all clubs have met the conditions, then the matter is over".
He stressed: "Even matters related to clubs' debts or cases have ended, even it was said that some clubs have some other cases, for example, Al Ahly had a case related to one of the coaches approximately, and it clarified that it filed an appeal, and likewise Zamalek had cases but it paid and the matter ended, and the union announced the clubs participating in the continental championships".
When asked if Al Ahly was a party to the matter?, Mujahid answered: "No, absolutely not, the media was the party, the pages and committees that I don't know who runs them were the party, but officially nothing happened, and are the clubs going to inspect each other! (Is there a club that inspects another club!), but if it has an interest of course it has the right to object, but this did not happen".
Mujahid concluded by clarifying whether the Football Association received any request or complaints from Al Ahly Club against Zamalek Club?, to answer: "No, I don't know, but certainly this will not happen, because the Football Association announced everything, and if there was a club that sees itself as having an interest it would have filed a complaint, but the matter is over, and Al Ahly itself announced that it did not send any request to the Football Association related to participation in the Champions League".
