Trabzonspor issued an official statement regarding the resignation of manager Fatih Tekke from his position, following a heavy 4-0 defeat to Ferencváros in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League qualifying playoff.
Trabzonspor had lost the first leg at home 1-0, before Ferencváros confirmed their superiority in the return match with a 4-0 victory.
The club stated in an official statement, as reported by the website "61saat": "Our technical director, Fatih Tekke, has decided to resign due to the emotional pressure resulting from the defeat against Ferencváros."

It added: "The Trabzonspor board of directors has decided not to accept Fatih Tekke's resignation. Consequently, he will continue his duties as technical director and will lead the team in the upcoming match against Amidospor in the league. We announce this to the public with our sincere appreciation."
Fatih Tekke had appeared in a television interview after the match to confirm his resignation. Signs of depression were visible on his face in the team bus after he left the stadium, refusing to hold a press conference.
Fatih Tekke received support from fans upon his arrival at Trabzon airport with the team. Some supporters directed a message to him: "Coach, it is not your fault, it is the referee's decisions. We love you unconditionally, Coach."
Hamit Altıntop, the former Turkish star of Bayern Munich, expressed his support for manager Fatih Tekke, saying: "Trabzon needs you, and you need Trabzon."
He added in a direct message to him: "Why did you submit your resignation? Brother Fatih Tekke, what is going on? What do you have besides God and Trabzon? You have worked hard and built something important over 18 months. It is not right to give up at a time when patience, persistence, and continuation are needed. We love you, brother."
