Trabzon Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç praised the Turkish club's signing of Mohamed Salah during the current summer transfer window, explaining that the Egyptian international has raised Trabzonspor's ambitions.

Trabzon successfully signed Mohamed Salah during the ongoing summer transfer window on a free transfer, with a two-year contract running until June 2028.

In statements carried by the website '61saat', Genç believes that Mohamed Salah's move to Trabzon offers benefits that extend beyond the sporting aspect.

Genç said: "Signing Mohamed Salah is more than just a deal. The arrival of a player of this caliber to Trabzon and his contribution to the team is extremely important. From a sporting perspective, Salah is one of the team's key pillars, and we have set winning the Turkish league as our goal."

He added: "Mohamed Salah's move has benefited the city of Trabzon. In terms of tourism, direct flights from Egypt to our city have begun, and we now hope to organize promotional events for Trabzon in Cairo or Alexandria in the coming period."

He explained: "From a social perspective, Egypt and Turkey are two countries and two peoples who share the same religion and are also similar socially. Therefore, I believe that Mohamed Salah's joining Trabzon will clearly contribute to a tourism boom."

He concluded: "Perhaps relations between Egypt and Turkey had been somewhat stagnant, but I believe Mohamed Salah can serve as an ambassador in this regard. I thank the head of Trabzon very much for this deal."

Trabzon prepares tomorrow, Monday, for an important match against their counterpart Amidospor, in the third round of the Turkish league.
