FIFA unveiled the ideal lineup for the 2026 World Cup tournament, which resulted in the Spanish national team being crowned with the title for the second time in its history.
The Spanish national team was crowned champion of the 2026 World Cup, after defeating Argentina with a goal to nil in the final round held at New Jersey Stadium last Sunday evening.
FIFA revealed the ideal lineup for the 2026 World Cup, which was selected based on fan voting and featured three players from the Spanish national team that won the title, alongside an African goalkeeper, Vozinha, the Cape Verde goalkeeper.
The lineup included the Spanish trio Pedro Porro, Marc Cucurella, and Rodri, who was also awarded the best player of the tournament, making them the only Spanish players among the best 11 according to fan voting.
The lineup did not include the Spanish defensive duo Pau Cubarsí and Aymeric Laporte, nor was the world champions' goalkeeper Unai Simón selected, despite winning the award for best goalkeeper of the tournament.
The Spanish national team tied with its French counterpart as the most represented in the ideal lineup, after France included Dayot Upamecano, Michael Olise, and Kylian Mbappé, who finished the tournament as top scorer and best assist provider.
The Argentine national team came next with only two players: Lisandro Martínez in defense and Lionel Messi in attack, while the lineup was completed by three players from three different teams: the Englishman Jude Bellingham, the Norwegian Erling Haaland, in addition to Vozinha.
