Lisandro Martinez, the Argentine national team player, followed in the footsteps of several of his teammates and published a message regarding their loss in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, last Sunday evening.
Argentina failed to retain the World Cup title, the 2022 edition, as they lost the final match that week against Spain with a goal without reply at "MetLife" Stadium.
Lisandro Martinez wrote, via his personal Instagram account: "With a heavy heart for our failure to achieve the cup that we all wanted, but with great pride towards this jersey, and towards my teammates in the team, the technical staff, the management, the medical and cooking staff, as well as the equipment officials, and every individual who contributed to making everything successful, and first and foremost to you who gave us your love and strength, and the unity of a nation that I hope will continue".

He added: "I extend my congratulations to Spain on their deserved victory in the title, and to our people I would like to say that the result does not define our journey, we succeeded in overcoming difficulties, we achieved the impossible and did not look for excuses, but found the motives to continue".
He continued: "We defended our flag off the pitch, we shared unforgettable moments with the national team, with our families, and with incredible support from the people, representing the national team will remain a great honor for me".
He concluded: "Always remember that the fall of the great is a joy for the humble, thank you very much to everyone, let us take care of our country".
