The Gulf Cup Football Federation announced the qualification of the Oman national team for the semi-finals of the 27th Gulf Cup tournament.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is hosting the matches of the 27th Gulf Cup in Jeddah, from September 23 to October 6.
Oman's qualification for the semi-finals of the 27th Gulf Cup came after a draw held in the early hours of today, Wednesday, which favored them over Iraq.
The Oman national team had tied with Iraq on points in Group A of the 27th Gulf Cup, both having 4 points, as well as identical goal differences and numbers of yellow cards, leading to a draw being used to determine the qualifying team alongside Saudi Arabia.
After the draw ceremony, the official page of the Gulf Cup Federation posted an image of the Oman national team on various social media platforms, commenting: "The Omani national team officially qualifies for the semi-finals."
The Saudi national team had secured first place in Group A of the 27th Gulf Cup by winning all its matches, collecting a full 9 points. Oman followed with 4 points, the same tally as Iraq, who finished third, while Kuwait ended last with no points.
In the semi-finals of the 27th Gulf Cup, Saudi Arabia is scheduled to face the runner-up of Group B, while Oman will play against the group leader, with the competition between these two spots currently involving only the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
