Murad Yakin, coach of the Swiss national team, stated that his team is capable of stopping Argentina in the 2026 World Cup.
The Swiss national team qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup after defeating Colombia in the round of 16 on penalties.
Yakin said in press statements: "We notice through the last two matches that Argentina is penetrable (weak in some aspects)".
He added: "I think we have gained the respect of the opponents; tactically, it will be an interesting match."
He continued: "For a country like Switzerland, facing Argentina in the quarter-finals is a strong moment."
He concluded: "We are capable of stopping the world champions".
Argentina qualified after their exciting 3-2 victory over Egypt in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup tournament.
The Argentine national team suffered greatly in the round of 32 matches against Cape Verde and the match against Egypt, where they won with the same result.
The Argentina vs Switzerland match will be held next Sunday at Texas Stadium in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.
