Sky Sports network clarified that Fulham Club is waiting for the issuance of a work permit for Álvaro Arbeloa, in preparation for appointing him as the new head coach of the team.
Fulham Club is close to appointing the Spanish coach to take over as head coach of the team, succeeding the Portuguese Marco Silva, who left after the end of his contract and moved to coach Benfica.
The report mentioned that the club will officially announce Arbeloa's appointment after he obtains the work permit.
The report added that Arbeloa will take over coaching Fulham with a 3-season contract.
A few days ago, the Spanish newspaper Marca revealed the progress of negotiations between English Fulham and Álvaro Arbeloa, the former head coach of Real Madrid, to take over coaching the team in the upcoming period.
According to the newspaper, Fulham is looking for a new coach after Marco Silva's departure, who took over coaching Benfica succeeding José Mourinho, while Arbeloa is preparing to leave his position at Real Madrid.
Silva left coaching Fulham at the end of the season after 5 years, before taking over coaching Benfica succeeding José Mourinho.
Arbeloa recently ended his mission with Real Madrid after a short period that lasted 6 months, having taken over responsibility last January succeeding Xabi Alonso.
The team finished last season in 11th place with 54 points, which is the best number in the club's history in the English Premier League, before repeating the same position in the current season.
Arbeloa previously played as a right-back and won the UEFA Champions League twice with Real Madrid, as well as the World Cup and the Euro twice with the Spanish national team.
Arbeloa played in the English Premier League with Liverpool and West Ham, alongside his career in Spain with Deportivo La Coruña.
During his coaching period at Real Madrid, the team exited the Copa del Rey early, as well as the UEFA Champions League from the quarter-finals, and finished the season in second place behind Barcelona.
Silva spent 5 years coaching Fulham before leaving the team.
Silva will return to the Portuguese league again after previously coaching both Estoril and Sporting Lisbon, winning the Portuguese Cup with the latter.
Silva previously coached Greek Olympiacos and won the league title with them, then had multiple English experiences starting from Hull City, then Watford, Everton, and finally Fulham.
During his leadership, Silva won the English Championship (Championship) title in the 2021-2022 season, after the team scored 110 goals, before leading them to stability in the Premier League and achieving several mid-table positions.
