Media personality Ahmed Shoubir commented on his son Mostafa Shoubir's contract renewal with Al Ahly, emphasizing that the decision was settled from the beginning, despite the delay in negotiations between the Red Fortress and the first-team goalkeeper.
Shoubir said in a statement via his radio program: "My pledge to you is that I say what pleases God as much as possible. For example, I had said that Hussein Shahata would sign a renewal contract with Al Ahly, despite the delay and the expiration of his contract, which made him a free agent. However, I insisted that he would sign the renewal, and that is what happened."
He continued: "I had also said that Mostafa Shoubir's renewal with Al Ahly was a foregone conclusion. I said this explicitly and implicitly, in words and deeds. Indeed, the matter was delayed slightly, but I kept affirming that despite that, it would end with a renewal."
He added: "I liked Mostafa Shoubir's remarks yesterday, and his confirmation that he is happy to renew with Al Ahly and that he is one of the club's sons. Therefore, the fans look at him differently because he came up through the youth sector. He emphasized that the idea of leaving the Red Fortress was very difficult, and that the final decision belongs to the club."
He went on: "When asked about current offers made to him, he denied this and emphasized that his focus is now with the Al Ahly team to return to the podium and compensate the fans for last season."

He continued: "Mostafa also responded to those who accused him of stalling and not renewing with Al Ahly, stating that what happened was the opposite, and that the renewal did not take a long time, but was delayed due to camp and match circumstances, as the management was keen for the players' focus to be solely on the pitch. He pointed out that the renewal issue, even if delayed, is a settled principle."
He added: "I liked when he said that the negotiations were comfortable because I would inevitably renew, and that no one could impose anything on the club, and that the club's perspective must be respected. The renewal was agreed upon without penalty clauses."
Shoubir noted: "There is a very important point, as he proposed including a penalty clause for two months or 45 days, but this is not considered a penalty clause; it was a proposal from one of the officials, who then retracted it because it is not part of Al Ahly's regulations."
He concluded: "I liked when he said that he was not as happy about saving a penalty from Messi as he was about being one of the few to save two penalties in a single World Cup edition, because this is immortalized in history. The beautiful thing is that Mostafa always acknowledges the club's favor toward him and believes that what he has achieved is due to Al Ahly."
