Saudi press reports revealed today, Monday, the desire of the management of Saudi Al-Ittihad Club to sign Faris Abdi, the full-back of Neom team, during the current summer transfer window.
The Saudi newspaper "Al-Riyadiya" reported that Al-Ittihad's management contacted its counterpart at Neom to sign Abdi this summer, as he is one of the options proposed to strengthen the left-back position.
This move comes amid Al-Ittihad management's plan for the departure of Albanian player Mario Mitaj in the coming period, especially after he received an offer from Italian club Genoa.
Al-Ittihad Club wants to benefit from the foreign player slot to sign a new professional to strengthen the midfield, with Mitaj being the most prominent candidate for departure, to be replaced by a local player.
The newspaper indicated that German Jens Feiseng, the technical director of Al-Ittihad, is working on evaluating the level of player Muath Faqihi in the left-back position.
"The Dean" is currently in the Spanish city of Marbella, preparing for the new 2026-2027 season, during which the team faces many challenges on various fronts.
Al-Ittihad is scheduled to face its Emirati counterpart Al-Jazira in the preliminary round qualifying for the league stage of the AFC Champions League Elite.
"The Tigers" will also compete in the Saudi Roshn League and the King's Cup during the next season.
