Brazilian Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli is undergoing a medical examination today, Monday, in preparation for finalizing his transfer to Saudi club Al-Hilal during the ongoing summer transfer window.
Al-Hilal has completed its agreement with Arsenal to sign Martinelli this summer.
Martinelli is traveling to Saudi Arabia to undergo the medical examination and finalize his transfer to Al-Hilal, according to the British newspaper The Guardian.
According to The Athletic network, Al-Hilal and Arsenal are putting the finishing touches on Martinelli's transfer agreement for 70 million euros, equivalent to approximately 305 million Saudi riyals. This amount is fully guaranteed and does not include any add-ons or incentives, while the Saudi club has offered the player a four-year contract.
Martinelli, aged 25, is expected to become the most expensive player ever sold by Arsenal in its history, surpassing the record set in 2017 when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain transferred to Liverpool.
Martinelli was absent from Arsenal's squad list in the first two matches of this season, whereas last season he played 53 matches and contributed to the team winning the English Premier League title and reaching the UEFA Champions League final.
The Brazilian winger joined Arsenal from Ituano in 2019 and has since played 278 matches for the first team, scoring 62 goals. His current contract runs until 2027, with an option to extend for an additional year.
