Chelsea had been seeking to sign Camara to strengthen their midfield after Enzo Fernández departed to Manchester City in a deal worth £125 million.

Although Monaco initially agreed to the terms of Camara's transfer to Chelsea, the French club canceled the deal after it became clear that Everton had reopened negotiations regarding the signing of Folarin Balogun.

Ultimately, Monaco itself grew frustrated when Balogun withdrew from his move to Everton, leaving Chelsea in the same position without securing the Senegalese midfielder.

According to the "Sports Mole" website, Chelsea made a late attempt to sign Garner during the closing hours of the summer transfer period.

Reports indicated that Chelsea valued Garner at £65 million, though it remains unclear whether the London club submitted an official offer at this figure to secure the services of the England international.

Nevertheless, Everton rejected Chelsea's approach, particularly as the 25-year-old player is happy with the team in Merseyside.

Furthermore, it is unlikely that David Moyes would have approved the departure of a key element in his squad under such circumstances. Although Chelsea received £125 million for a player who wished to join a Premier League rival, the club's management faced criticism from some quarters for failing to replace Fernández.

Chelsea currently boasts several options in midfield, including Moisés Caicedo, Reece James, Roméo Lavia, Jordan Henderson, Malo Gusto, and Valentín Barco.

Additionally, Josh Acheampong and Jorrel Hato can operate in this position if needed. Chelsea has already demonstrated that its attacking output has not been affected by Fernández's departure, having scored nine goals in their first three matches.

Conversely, some believe that adding a player with greater physical strength to the squad, even if deployed as a center-back, was more important than finding a direct replacement for Fernández.

Fernández failed to establish an effective partnership with Caicedo under various managers, supporting the view that enhancing the team's physical presence may be more crucial than directly replacing the Argentine player.
