Arsenal is preparing to submit a record offer to sign Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez during the current summer transfer window.

According to a report revealed by "Team Talk," Arsenal will begin its official move to sign Alvarez once it receives a signal indicating the player's openness to returning to the English Premier League.
The report added that the London club's sporting director Andrea Berta maintains continuous contact with the Argentine striker's representatives, as part of his efforts to complete a heavyweight deal.
Since joining Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2024, Alvarez has scored 49 goals and provided 17 assists, while his contract with the Spanish club runs until the summer of 2030.
The report indicated that signing the player will require a massive financial offer, but that will not prevent Arsenal from continuing to work on other big deals during the transfer window.
The current British record stands at the transfer value of Alexander Isak to Liverpool for £125 million, but Arsenal is prepared to surpass that figure to bring Alvarez to the Emirates Stadium.
However, according to the report, Alvarez prefers a move to Barcelona this summer, where the Catalan club is already holding talks to try to reach an agreement.
In contrast, Arsenal is confident in its ability to agree personal terms with the player and is ready to meet Atletico Madrid's financial demands, leaving Alvarez's approval to return to England as the biggest obstacle to completing the deal.
The report also indicated that Arsenal may offer Viktor Gyökeres plus a large sum of money as part of the deal, but Atletico Madrid would prefer to receive Gabriel Jesus or Gabriel Martinelli if negotiations enter a player-exchange phase.
The report concluded by noting that Atletico prefers to sell its star to a club outside Spain rather than strengthen the squad of its local rival Barcelona, which could give Arsenal a significant advantage if Alvarez shows willingness to return to the English Premier League.
The Argentine international is one of Arsenal's top targets this summer and is also of strong interest to Barcelona, the Spanish league champions.
