Press reports revealed that a Portugal national football team player has worn the historic number 7 shirt previously belonging to Cristiano Ronaldo, following his departure from the training camp before the match against Denmark in the 2027 UEFA Nations League.
Portugal is scheduled to face Denmark today as part of the third round of the UEFA Nations League.
Cristiano Ronaldo did not play in Sunday evening's match between Portugal and Norway, remaining on the bench throughout the game due to a decision by coach Jorge Jesus, which caused anger for the captain of the European Brazil side.
Ronaldo met with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation and Jesus, and the issue was resolved among all parties.
However, hours ago, a video circulated showing Cristiano Ronaldo leaving the Portugal national team's training facility after coach Jorge Jesus's press conference.
Cristiano Ronaldo issued a strong statement via his official "Instagram" social media account, hinting at his retirement from international football, (click here for details).
According to the Portuguese newspaper "Record," Ronaldo's legendary number 7 will be transferred to Rafael Leão.
It reported that Leão received the number 7 shirt following Cristiano Ronaldo's departure from the Portugal national team camp.
This will mark the first time the number 7 appears on the back of a player other than Ronaldo, today against Denmark.
