The Portuguese Football Federation issued a statement regarding the departure of the national team captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, from the training camp held in Denmark.
The statement read: "The Portuguese Football Federation announces that Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo has left the national team's current training camp in Copenhagen."
The statement continued: "Preparations for the matches against Denmark and Norway will continue as scheduled, with the latter to be played at the Dragão Stadium, involving the remaining 24 players in the squad."
It added: "All members of the team remain fully focused on the upcoming commitments of the national team and achieving the set objectives."
Ronaldo had previously announced his departure from the Portugal national team camp following coach Jorge Jesus's press conference and after a conversation with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, stating that he would reveal the true reasons behind his decision in due course.
Ronaldo said in a statement on his official Facebook page: "Following the national team coach's press conference, and after a conversation with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, I have decided to leave the national team training camp."
He added: "In due course, I will reveal to the Portuguese people the truth behind the reasons for my departure from the national team, which I have always dedicated myself to serving."
The Portugal captain continued: "The time has now come for me to wish Portugal and all my teammates success, without exception."
Ronaldo's decision comes amid reports of a crisis with Jorge Jesus, after the Portugal captain missed the previous match against Norway despite warming up in preparation to come on as a substitute.
