Real Madrid Club issued an official statement supporting the decision of the International Football Association "FIFA" to cancel its proposal regarding the privatization of the World Cup.
Infantino had previously announced his desire to sell shares of FIFA to investors, which led to a violent attack from the European Football Association that reached the threat of boycotting the World Cup.
After that, the European Football Association "UEFA" confirmed that it would not participate in any competition organized by FIFA, and then the Asian Football Confederation and the North American Football Confederation "CONCACAF" joined it, and because of this attack, Infantino canceled his proposal, (for details click here).
Real Madrid revealed in an official statement its full support for the efforts made by the European Football Association and all continental federations that stood against this proposal.
Real Madrid's statement read as follows: "Real Madrid wishes to express its gratitude to the European Football Association, the continental federations, and all institutions that strongly and responsibly opposed FIFA's project, which contributed to protecting football".
It added: "Clubs are the fundamental pillar of international football and the World Cup, as they discover talents, develop players, and support national teams with players who contribute to the success of these major tournaments".
It stressed: "International football and the World Cup are, above all, events of great popular importance and represent a huge legacy for nations, fans, and society as a whole, and therefore we at Real Madrid believe that they should never be treated as mere financial assets traded for the benefit of a small elite group".
Real Madrid concluded its statement by strongly opposing this proposal because it would affect the integrity of football and negatively impact all aspects of the game for the benefit of a small group of elite men.
