Spanish club Barcelona announced shortly ago, in a statement issued on its official website, the departure of one of its young players from its ranks during the summer transfer window, amid its efforts to open the door for several players to leave, either for financial gain or to grant them additional opportunities to participate.
Earlier today, Tuesday, Barcelona had announced the departure of Toni Fernández and Gil Fernández from the youth team.
Barcelona also announced in its statement now the departure of its young player Álvaro Cortés to Belgium's Royal Antwerp, after the two clubs reached an agreement regarding 50% of his economic rights.
Barcelona retains the right to re-sign the 21-year-old defender, ensuring control over his future.
Cortés had wished to remain with Barcelona's first team and made his debut under Hans Flick in the final stages of last season's La Liga campaign.
However, the decision recently changed as he preferred to be a regular starter and play consistently, something he would not have achieved in Barcelona's first team.
It is worth noting that Barcelona witnessed the departure of several players this summer, such as Robert Lewandowski, Ronald Araújo, and Ferran Torres, while signing Gabriel Jesus, Rodri, Dominik Livaković, João Cancelo, Karim Adeyemi, Anthony Gordon, and Jeremy Bocio.
