The Turkish municipality of Yomra announced its readiness to name the street where Egyptian star Mohamed Salah will reside after him, in a move aimed at honoring the player following his transfer to Trabzonspor and his settlement in the Kaşüstü area of Yomra.
Mohamed Salah joined Trabzonspor this summer on a free transfer after terminating his contract with English club Liverpool.
Naming a street in Turkey after Mohamed Salah
According to the Turkish newspaper "61saat," the municipality intends to rename Selvi Street to "Mohamed Salah Avenue" following approval by the municipal council, with official procedures for the name change expected to be completed within the current week.
Mustafa Bıyık, Mayor of Yomra, stated: "Salah is one of the most significant signings not only in Trabzonspor's history but also in the history of Turkish football. We are extremely proud and delighted that a global star of such stature will reside in Yomra. His choice of Yomra as his home will greatly contribute to enhancing our region's marketing value and brand."
The Mayor of Yomra concluded: "Having a world-class football player reside in Yomra represents an exceptional event for us. Therefore, we wish to immortalize this chapter in Yomra's history by naming the street where he will live within our district after Salah."
