The name of Barcelona defender Jules Koundé has returned to Bayern Munich's circle of interests during the summer transfer window, amid the German club's efforts to bolster its ranks in preparation for the new season.

According to the German newspaper Bild, Bayern is considering moving soon to sign the French international, but completing the deal first depends on selling a number of its players to provide the necessary financial liquidity.
The report indicated that the Bavarian club's management is currently working on finding an exit for full-back Sacha Boey, and the departure of Hiroki Ito, Kim Min-jae, and Joao Palhinha is also possible, in order to finance new deals.
Bayern had already secured the signing of Ismail Sabari and Nathaniel Brown, but Koundé remains one of the most prominent names on the club's table.
The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo confirmed that Barcelona is holding on to the French full-back and the club's management believes it is difficult to allow Koundé's departure except only when compensated, which is something Barcelona is not considering at the present time.
Koundé had renewed his contract with Barcelona until 2030 last summer, and is currently participating with the French national team in the 2026 World Cup, where he is preparing to face Spain in the semi-final.
The player had previously commented on his future during the French national team camp, saying: "I am a player at Barcelona, and I hope to continue there."
Barcelona does not expect its French defender to leave this summer, unless it receives a large financial offer that might prompt the club to reconsider its position.
