Mohamed Sherif, the Al Ahly player currently on loan to Iraq's Al-Zawraa, denied rumors that he demanded the full value of his contract with the club, emphasizing that financial matters are not his top priority.
The 30-year-old Sherif moved from Al Ahly to Al-Zawraa on loan until the end of the season during the current summer transfer window.
Sherif stated in an interview with "Modern MTI" channel: "It is untrue what is being said about my demanding the full value of my contract from Al Ahly. I have been greatly wronged recently due to these rumors, but I confirm that I have not sat with the administration to discuss this matter."
He added: "I joined Al Ahly because I love the club, and it is impossible for me to bargain with Al Ahly over money. I signed a blank contract without looking at the figures, as financial matters are not my priority."
He clarified: "It was also claimed that I want to stay with Al Ahly against the club's wishes, which is also incorrect. I have not had any disputes with Sayed Abdel Hafeez."
He continued: "After a meeting with club officials, I was informed that the coach does not want me, and we agreed to look for other offers. Playing outside Egypt was my priority."
He concluded: "We did not take long before reaching an agreement with Al-Zawraa Club, which is the biggest and most decorated club in Iraq."
It is worth noting that Mohamed Sherif's contract with Al Ahly extends until the summer of 2030.
