Messi was in second place in the list of the best player in the World Cup, behind Rodri, the Spanish midfielder star and the winner of the best player in the competition, while the striker of the French national team and Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe, was in third place.

Messi presented a wonderful World Cup tournament, after scoring 8 goals, in addition to providing four decisive passes in the competition, while Mbappe was crowned with the Golden Boot award, with 10 goals.
Mbappe outperformed Messi regarding the title of top scorer of the World Cup, while Jude Bellingham, England's playmaker, was in third place in the list of World Cup scorers, with 7 goals.
Messi did not help his teammates in the Argentine national team to win against Spain and obtain the World Cup, for the fourth time in history, and the second time in his football career.
