The Spanish newspaper Marca sang the praises of the performance presented by Mustafa Shobier, the Egyptian national team goalkeeper, during his participation in the 2026 World Cup, specifically in the Argentina match.
The Argentine national team defeated its counterpart, Egypt, by three goals to two, in the match that brought the two teams together, yesterday evening, Tuesday, at Atlanta Stadium in the United States of America, for the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup.
Despite Argentina's success in overcoming the Egyptian national team and scoring 3 goals in the Pharaohs' net, Mustafa Shobier appeared in a remarkable manner, as he managed to save a penalty kick against Lionel Messi, in addition to some other difficult saves.
The Marca newspaper headlined its coverage of Mustafa Shobier's performance, saying: "A giant between the three posts," praising the level at which the Pharaohs' goalkeeper appeared during the Argentina match.
It added: "The Egyptian goalkeeper was one of the most prominent stars of the match, as he showed quick reactions, agility, and calmness in facing Argentina's best chances."
Marca highlighted Shobier's save of Messi's penalty kick, before saving McAllister's header from close range, as well as brilliantly saving Julian Alvarez's low shot.
The newspaper concluded: "Perhaps he could have done more against Messi's goal, but the truth is that his performance was the cornerstone upon which the Egyptian national team built its amazing offensive pyramid.. at least during the first 80 minutes of the match."
It is worth noting that Mustafa Shobier participated in all possible minutes during the 2026 World Cup, after starting in 5 matches and not being substituted in any of them.
