Journalist Magdy El-Galad, Editor-in-Chief of the "Ona" Press and Media Foundation, revealed the reason behind Mohamed Salah's substitution during Egypt's match against Angola.
The Egyptian national team settled for a goalless draw with their Angolan guests in the first round of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, and Hossam Hassan decided to substitute Mohamed Salah in the 60th minute.
Magdy El-Galad reveals the reasons behind Mohamed Salah's exit in the Egypt vs. Angola match
El-Galad stated in remarks on the program "Here is Al-Ahly," broadcast on Al-Ahly Channel: "It is dangerous to create an impression that Hossam Hassan has personal motives in selecting players; his comments regarding Salah's substitution are considered an incident."
He continued: "Hossam Hassan failed to manage his World Cup success, so he decided to bring off Mohamed Salah to prove he is different from any foreign or Egyptian coach, and his pride prevented him from apologizing to Mohamed El-Shenawy."
He added: "Does the Football Association realize that Hossam Hassan's statements affect the national team's results?"
He emphasized: "Hossam Hassan claimed he is the only head coach attacked over player substitutions, yet Mahmoud El-Gohary was the most criticized coach."
He further noted: "The Egypt vs. Argentina match was the most-watched game at the World Cup in the Middle East, and Hossam Hassan should have focused on the success he achieved during the tournament."
He concluded: "Egypt's performance against Angola was unconvincing; the locker room determines match outcomes, and correcting Hossam Hassan's mistakes is not a personal attack against him."
