Thousands of Egyptian fans gathered at Alamein Airport, in preparation to receive the Egyptian national team delegation participating in the 2026 World Cup.
The team delegation moved from the American city of Atlanta at 11 pm on Thursday, Cairo time.
The travel trip takes more than 12 hours, according to what Ibrahim Hassan, the team director, announced.
The Egyptian national team succeeded in qualifying for the round of 16 of the World Cup for the first time in history, before bidding farewell to the tournament against the defending champion Argentina with a score of 3-2.
Despite the team leading with two clean goals until the 79th minute, the Argentine national team succeeded in scoring 3 goals in the final minutes, amid a state of refereeing controversy.
The Egyptian team achieved victory for the first time in history in the World Cup against New Zealand 3-1.
The Egyptian team also scored 8 goals in 5 matches in the longest and largest scoring streak in the history of the Pharaohs in the World Cup.
The Egyptian team crossed the group stage for the first time, and also qualified for the round of 16 in a historic achievement.
It is expected that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will receive the Egyptian national team delegation to honor them on Saturday
