Aymeric Laporte, the Spanish national team player, spoke about Argentina's playing style ahead of their anticipated match on Sunday evening, in the final of the FIFA World Cup tournament.

When asked whether he feels concerned about the violent style known from the Argentine players in play, Laporte said: "No, I do not feel concerned at all about the ferocity in football; if it is overlooked and the referee does his duty, I have no problem."
He added in statements published by the Spanish newspaper "Marca": "We have been greatly surprised by things we witnessed in the recent matches, actions that are not punished as a result of doing them, especially in Argentina's matches, the team that clearly leaves its mark; that should not be allowed in football, especially in major tournaments because that could affect the team's stability and cause it frustration."

He continued: "The referee must control those matters so they are not exploited; if one or two players do that, the match will turn into chaos. We have been a team characterized by fairness to a large extent since the beginning of the tournament; we do not strike the opponents' players and do not commit reckless fouls."
He added: "This is what we must do in that match, but it is true that the matter will depend a lot on the refereeing."
He stated: "Yes, we talked about that in the locker room; the problem is that we are not responsible for it; there must be someone who monitors such behaviors and ensures it is a football game and not something else."
