External press reports have revealed that Turkish club Konyaspor is searching for alternative options after negotiations to sign Al-Ahly player Imam Ashour stalled during the current summer.
Turkish newspaper Manşet reported that Konyaspor submitted an official offer to sign Al-Ahly's midfielder during the current summer transfer window, with official communication channels opened with the Reds to discuss the possibility of completing the deal.
The report indicated that negotiations stalled due to the required financial compensation, noting that the Turkish club allocated a budget of $3 million to sign Imam Ashour, but Al-Ahly rejected the offer as it did not meet their financial demands.
It clarified that Konyaspor's management has not closed the door completely on signing the player, but at the same time began studying other options in the midfield position while keeping open the possibility of resuming negotiations if an agreement is reached between the two clubs.
A source confirmed in statements to Lila Koura that a marketing company contacted Al-Ahly's football officials regarding the possibility of submitting an offer to the club to purchase Imam Ashour, noting that the value proposed amounted to about 3 million euros, which the Reds' officials rejected.
Imam Ashour is 28 years old and has previously played for Zamalek, Haras El Hodoud, and Danish club Midtjylland before joining Al-Ahly in the summer of 2023.
The midfielder delivered one of his best seasons during 2024-2025, scoring 19 goals and providing 9 assists in 40 matches, while scoring two goals and delivering 5 decisive passes in 19 matches during the 2025-2026 season.
Imam Ashour participated with the Egypt national team in the 2026 World Cup, where he scored two goals against Belgium and Australia and helped the Pharaohs qualify for the round of 16.
