Jürgen Klopp, the former Liverpool coach, revealed his attempt to sign Kylian Mbappé for the Reds, before his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

Klopp said during his analysis of the Morocco-France match for the "Magenta" channel: "Liverpool was seeking to sign Mbappé, Monaco's striker at the time, who was only 18 years old back then."

The German coach added, "Mbappé's family boarded their own private plane with 5 rooms."

He continued, "We did our utmost, spoke with the family, but it was an unproductive meeting."

Mbappé later joined Paris Saint-Germain on loan, in a deal that included an option to buy for 180 million euros.

Mbappé played 7 years wearing the Paris Saint-Germain shirt, becoming the all-time top scorer for the Parisian club.

Mbappé transferred to Real Madrid in 2024 in a free transfer after the end of his contract with Paris.

Klopp coached Liverpool for 7 years, during which he won the UEFA Champions League and the English Premier League.

Klopp is close to coaching the German national team, succeeding Julian Nagelsmann, who departed after Germany's exit from the round of 32 at the World Cup.
