The German Football Association announced reaching a preliminary agreement with Jürgen Klopp to coach the German national team.
Bernd Neuendorf, president of the association, and Hans-Joachim Watzke, vice president, met with Klopp to hold the first in-depth talks for coaching the national team.
The German Association indicated that the meeting was described as constructive and a preliminary agreement was reached for a possible contract.
The negotiations are scheduled to continue next week, as both sides express their confidence in the possibility of successfully reaching a final agreement, but it is contingent on reaching an agreement with Klopp's current employer as football president at Red Bull company.
According to Bild newspaper, Klopp's contract with Germany will extend until 2030, including the World Cup.
Julian Nagelsmann submitted his resignation from his position, after the Mannschaft's exit from the World Cup in the round of 32 on penalties against Paraguay.
Klopp will receive a salary slightly higher than Nagelsmann's, which amounts to 7 million euros annually, according to the report.
The report added that it is almost certain that Klopp's assistants, Peter Krawietz and Pep Lijnders, will be part of his technical staff.
The German Football Association will not pay any compensation to Red Bull company in exchange for terminating his contract.
Instead, Klopp will remain with Red Bull as a brand ambassador, which represents greater value to the company than a meager financial compensation.
In the same context, Klopp himself confirmed his desire to take over the coaching of the German national team, stressing that it will happen in the coming period.
Jürgen Klopp has been away from coaching since the summer of 2024 after leaving Liverpool and is seeking to return again through the gateway of the German national team.
