Swedish striker Alexander Isak, the first-team forward for Liverpool Football Club, expressed his happiness after returning to participate wearing the Reds' shirt against Monaco, in a friendly match in preparation for the upcoming 2026/2027 season.
Anfield Stadium hosted a friendly match between the Liverpool and Monaco teams, where the men of Spanish coach Andoni Iraola lost three goals to two, (to view the match goals click here).
Isak scored a wonderful goal in Liverpool's loss to Monaco, after an extremely long period of suffering due to injuries and a goal drought.
Isak said, in statements via Liverpool's official website: "It was wonderful, it's nice to return to Anfield and play in front of our fans and get additional playing minutes, it was a wonderful feeling".
Regarding the goal he scored with Wirtz: "I think Flo and I agreed that we both touched the ball together but obviously I don't know who scored the first or the last goal, I felt like I was the one who touched the ball, I really don't know".
Regarding his physical fitness: "I feel in good shape, I hope every match improves my fitness level and that's what I'm striving for".
He added: "I think my performance today was better than the previous match and I hope my performance in the next match will be better than today, this is the goal of the pre-season preparation and this is what we must continue to do".
Regarding working with Iraola, he concluded: "It's really great, I feel the morale is high in the team and we are all working hard to achieve success, we will make sure we are ready for the start".
