Brazilian international Raphinha, the winger for Spanish club Barcelona, continues to suffer from a series of persistent injuries since his move to Barça.
The 29-year-old player joined the Catalan club in the summer of 2022, arriving from English side Chelsea for €58 million.
Raphinha left the Brazil national team camp and headed back to Barcelona after being excluded from the squad preparing to face India next Saturday, marking the end of the international break, as confirmed by media reports.
The Barcelona winger felt thigh pain during the match between Brazil and Australia, which ended with a 4-2 victory for his national team. He left the field at halftime after scoring the equalizing goal from a penalty kick, before Endrick replaced him in the second half.
Brazilian network "Globo Esporte" indicated that Raphinha returned to his club Barcelona and was unable to remain with the Brazilian squad due to suffering from a muscle injury in his right thigh.
Medical examinations undergone by Raphinha revealed a small muscular edema in the posterior part of the right thigh, without disclosing a serious injury. However, the medical staff of the Brazilian national team preferred not to risk the player's health and decided to allow him to leave the camp and return to Barcelona to begin treatment and rehabilitation.
Injuries plague Raphinha at Barcelona
Since his transfer to Barcelona, Raphinha has suffered eight injuries apart from this current instance.
The Brazilian star sustained three injuries during the 2023-24 season under the leadership of Xavi Hernandez, missing 61 days from action.
In the 2025-26 season, the Brazilian winger suffered five injuries, staying out of action for 125 days.
Raphinha has been absent from the pitch for 186 days over the last four years with Blaugrana.
