Hossam Hassan, the coach of the Egyptian national team, believes that his team was subjected to refereeing injustice during the match against Argentina in the World Cup.
Hossam Hassan said via On Sport: "The referee wronged us. And besides his decision to cancel the goal and not award a penalty kick, he was awarding strange fouls against us, while he was not awarding the same fouls in our favor."
He added, "I am completely satisfied with the changes I made against Argentina. And since I took charge of the Egyptian national team, I have been seeking to impose the team's personality on the pitch, even in major matches against teams like Spain and Brazil."
He continued, "I have confidence in all the goalkeepers, but the time has come for Mostafa Shobeir to get his chance. He has developed himself a lot, benefited from his calm and balanced personality, and he understands what I want from him just by talking to him."
He went on, "We were in control for most periods of the match against Iran, but Ahmed Fattouh's injury after all substitutions were used put us in a difficult position during the remaining minutes of the match."
He concluded, "I was reassured about Hossam Abdel Majeed during the last penalty shootout against Australia."
He ended his statements by saying, "I wished Islam Issa and Mohamed Hamdy were with us in the World Cup. There are also other players who deserve the opportunity, such as Oktay Abdullah, in addition to a promising player at Ghazl El Mahalla, but I will not mention his name now so that he continues to work on developing himself further."
Hossam Hassan took over the coaching of the Egyptian national team in February 2024 and began his journey with the Egyptian national team in March with a match against New Zealand.
Since then, he has led Al Ameed with the Egyptian national team in 35 matches, winning 19, drawing 10, and losing 5.
The Egyptian national team finished second in Group Seven with 5 points, behind the Belgian national team by a margin of points.
In the group stage, the Egyptian national team drew against Belgium and Iran, and won against New Zealand 3-1.
