Hossam Abdel Majeed, defender of the Bulgarian club Ludogorets and the Egyptian national team, revealed the reasons behind his decision to leave Zamalek and move to a European club, the impact of his participation in the 2026 World Cup on this deal, as well as discussing the offers he recently received.
Hossam Abdel Majeed said in statements reported by the "Africa Foot" website: "Every player dreams of moving to Europe, and Ludogorets was the closest option for me. I see this as a good step. You have to work hard, and the rest is in God's hands. You just have to persevere."
He confirmed that he has set a timeline for the next stage of his professional career, saying: "God willing, within a year or a year and a half at most, I will take a much bigger step, but as I said, everything is in God's hands."
The former Zamalek defender denied that his move to Ludogorets was linked to his participation in the World Cup, confirming that negotiations began long before the tournament started. He stated: "No, the decision was made long before the World Cup."
He added: "During the World Cup, I was not a starter in defense, and if I had been, my transfer would have had a completely different impact. But I am working hard to develop and become a starter in defense with the national team, so I can participate in the 2030 World Cup."

He added: "I received many offers from clubs in the Gulf, in addition to European offers, but I chose Ludogorets because it was the best and most serious. I preferred this offer over the Gulf offers, even though the latter were much more lucrative."
He concluded his remarks: "My goal is to take the next step that will enable me to develop, then join a more prestigious league, contribute to my country's success, honor Zamalek, the club of my childhood, and pave the way for young Zamalek players to become professionals in Europe."
