The Frenchman Hervé Renard has strongly entered the circle of candidates to take over the technical leadership of the Côte d'Ivoire national team, following the end of Emerse Fae's tenure with the "Elephants".
The Ivorian Football Federation decided not to renew the contract of Emerse Fae, the technical director of the Côte d'Ivoire national team, thereby ending a period that saw leading the team to win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, in addition to returning to participate in the 2026 World Cup after an absence of 12 years.
Renard is the most prominent candidate to succeed Fae in leading Côte d'Ivoire
According to the French newspaper "Le Parisien", the Frenchman Hervé Renard is close to taking over the task of coaching the Ivorian national team in the coming period.
The French newspaper indicated that it is expected to announce Renard's assumption of responsibility for coaching the Côte d'Ivoire national team within 48 hours, to succeed Emerse Fae.
This will be the second term in which Renard takes over the coaching of the Côte d'Ivoire national team, as he previously led the Ivorian team from 2014 until 2015, in a total of 18 matches.
Renard succeeded in winning the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with the Ivorian national team.
It is worth noting that Renard previously took over the coaching of the Tunisia national team in the 2026 World Cup, succeeding Sabri Lamouchi, and led the team in two matches but bid farewell to the tournament without any positive result.
