Hany Abo Rida, President of the Egyptian Football Association and First Vice President of the Arab Football Union, revealed the status of the resumption of the Arab Club Championship competitions and the truth about hosting them in Egypt.
Saudi press reports had indicated that the Arab Champions League would be held during the upcoming summer period of 2027, in the Egyptian capital Cairo, with the participation of the most prominent football clubs in the Arab world.
Abo Rida said in statements to the Saudi newspaper "Al-Riyadiya": "The meeting of the Arab Football Union was productive, and upcoming tournaments for the Arab Football Union were discussed."
He added: "We have the first tournament under the supervision of the Arab Football Union, which will be held in Port Said; it is the Arab Beach Soccer Championship, starting at the beginning of next month."
He continued: "The organization of the Arab Club Football Championship was discussed, but the schedule is very difficult during this period, as it is crowded at both the national team and club levels."
He concluded: "But we are trying to find solutions and an ideal way to hold our tournaments, in coordination with FIFA. The Arab Championship in its last two editions was of a very high level."
