The Egyptian national team had advanced to the knockout stages, starting from the round of 32, after finishing second in the seventh group competitions, which included the teams of Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand.
The Egyptian national team collected five points after winning against the New Zealand team with a score of 3-1, while achieving two draws; the first was with the Belgian team with a score of 1-1, then the draw with Iran with the same result 1-1.
In the round of 32, the Egyptian national team achieved victory over its Australian counterpart on penalties 4-2, as the match ended in its original and extra halves with a positive draw result of 1-1.
On the other hand, the Argentine national team was able to reach this stage after overcoming its Cape Verde counterpart with difficulty in the round of 32, by defeating it with a score of 3-2.
