Via FilGoal

Shawky Gharib, the former coach of the Egyptian national team, entered the circle of candidates for two positions from the Egyptian Football Association.

The Egyptian Football Association decided to rely on national cadres, especially after the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, after the success of Hossam Hassan's experience with the national team.

And FilGoal.com learned that Shawky Gharib is a candidate for the positions of technical director of the Egyptian Football Association or coach of the Olympic national team.

Shawky Gharib is closer to the position of technical director of the Association than coach of the Olympic national team so far.

Mustafa Abu Zahra, a member of the board of directors of the Egyptian Football Association, had previously stated in television statements that the coach of the Olympic national team is close to being a national coach.

The Football Association postponed its decision regarding the coach of the Olympic national team until Egypt's path in the World Cup is over.

Egypt reached the round of 16 in the World Cup for the first time in history before exiting the tournament after losing to Argentina by three goals to two.

Shawky Gharib previously served as assistant coach of the first Egyptian national team alongside Hassan Shehata from November 2004 until June 2011.

He also led the Egyptian national team for a year from November 2023 until 2024.

He also previously led the Egyptian Olympic national team from 2018 until 2021.

At the club level, he coached Smouha, Ismaily, El Entag El Harby, El Mokawloon, and Ghazl El Mahalla.
