Esposito brothers make history with the Italian national team

Via Yallakora

The brothers Pio and Sebastiano Esposito wrote their names into the history of the Italian national team, after starting together against Turkey and achieving a feat that had not occurred for 111 years.

The brothers Pio and Sebastiano Esposito participated in Italy's victory over Turkey, with a score of 4-1, in the match played between them in the European Nations League.

The Esposito brothers equalize a record dating back 111 years

The last time two brothers started in the initial lineup for the Italian national team was in 1915, namely Aldo and Luigi Cevenini.

Thus, the Esposito brothers equaled this historic record, while the last two brothers to play together wearing the Italian national team jersey were Filippo and Simone Inzaghi in 2000, during a match against England, but they did not start the match together.

The Esposito family became the first family to include three siblings who wore the Italian national team jersey. Following Salvatore, who began his international career with the national team since 2022, Pio and Sebastiano played for the Italian national team, as Sebastiano made his first start at the age of 24, while Pio reached a tally of 10 international caps at the age of 21.
