The Egyptian youth national team defeated its Jordanian counterpart (3-0) in the match that brought the two teams together on one of the pitches at the National Teams Center in 6th of October City as part of their preparations for the qualifiers for the Africa and Asia U-20 Nations Cups.
Eyad Medhat put Egypt ahead in the 18th minute when he headed in a cross from Mohamed Farag past substitute goalkeeper Mohamed Al-Shaloul, who had replaced his injured teammate Hamad Al-Latayfa in the 9th minute.
Mahmoud Hamd added the second and third goals in the 45th minute and the 5th minute of first-half stoppage time, also with headers from teammate Mohannad Al-Shami.
In the second half, coach Wael Riyad made numerous substitutions to give all players the opportunity to showcase their abilities and to check their readiness ahead of the North Africa qualifiers for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Ghana next year.
Adham Ahmed, Omar Al-Azab, Mahmoud Hassan Gomaa, goalkeeper Mostafa Sami, Abdullah Bdeir and Mohamed Yasser all featured after Anas Rushdi came on for Yassin Atef in the 19th minute.
Al-Azab nearly scored Egypt’s fourth goal in the 51st minute, but his shot struck the crossbar.
Jordan captain Mohamed Al-Baytar unleashed a powerful shot that goalkeeper Omar Abdelaziz tipped over the bar for a corner in the 55th minute.
Substitute Ahd Al-Shahadat then directed a header from fellow substitute Qais Al-Shawashra wide of the goal in the 72nd minute.
