The Egyptian national team delegation for the "born in 2009" category, headed by Waleed Darwish, a member of the Egyptian Football Association board and supervisor of the team, arrived in Cairo on Sunday evening.

The Egyptian "born in 2009" national team had participated in the International Friendship Friendly Tournament in Switzerland, as part of its preparation program for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

During its journey in the friendly tournament over the past period, the youth team, coached by Hussein Abdel Latif, faced South Korea, England, Colombia, and Canada.

Egypt achieved a valuable victory against South Korea via penalty shootouts at the start of the tournament, but struggled in two matches against England and Colombia, before suffering their third defeat yesterday (3-1) against Canada, finishing in sixth place.

The team is preparing to participate in the Gulf Youth Cup, which kicks off on October 17th in Qatar, marking the final stage of its preparation program for the World Cup.

The draw for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, whose competitions begin on November 19th, placed Egypt in Group One alongside Qatar, Panama, and Greece.
