Despite the Egyptian national team's exit from the round of 16 in the 2026 World Cup, Coach Hossam Hassan's team managed to earn everyone's praise, thanks to the performance and results it presented in the current edition, held in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico.
The Egyptian national team bid farewell to the global competitions from the round of 16 after exiting against the 2022 world champion, the Argentine national team, following a 3-2 loss, in a match that saw the "Pharaohs" lead 2-0, before the "Tango" team turned the result in its favor.
The Egyptian national team was able to show a good attacking level, after scoring in all its matches, as it played five matches, including three in the group stage and two in the knockout stages.
Egypt's national team scored, respectively, against Belgium (one goal), New Zealand (3 goals), Iran (one goal), Australia (one goal), and Argentina (two goals), and the duo Mustafa Zico and Emam Ashour have the highest scoring rate, after each scored two goals.
The official "Opta" website highlighted the ranking of the teams with the best scoring rate, with the French national team in the lead with 16 goals from six matches.
The "Roosters" national team can increase its scoring rate, after reaching the semi-finals at the expense of the Moroccan national team with a 2-0 win, in the quarter-final matches.
In contrast, the Argentine national team comes in second place with 14 goals from five matches, followed by the Belgian national team in third place with 13 goals from five matches.
The Argentine national team will face its Swiss opponent in the round of 16, while the Belgian national team plays, this evening, against its Spanish counterpart at 10:00 PM Cairo time.
