Despite the Egyptian national team's exit from the round of 16 in the 2026 World Cup, currently held in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico, the "Pharaohs" team managed to achieve many positive records in its fourth historical participation.
The Egyptian national team had previously participated in the 1934, 1990, and 2018 editions, but the current edition witnessed many historical records, as it played five matches in the tournament, the last of which was against the Argentine national team in the round of 16.
The Egyptian national team lost to its Argentine counterpart by three goals to two, in a match that saw the "Pharaohs" take a two-goal lead before the "Tango" team turned the score in its favor by scoring three consecutive goals.
The Egyptian national team had been in Group Seven alongside the teams of Belgium, New Zealand, and Iran, where it achieved its first-ever victory in the World Cup at the expense of the New Zealand national team with a 3-1 result in the second round.
The Egyptian national team also did not suffer any loss in the group stage, after drawing 1-1 with Belgium and Iran, allowing the "Pharaohs" team to collect five points and finish in second place, tied with the Belgian national team, which topped the group on goal difference.
This edition also witnessed the Egyptian national team reaching the knockout stages for the first time, whether in the round of 32 or the round of 16.
