Egypt concluded its journey in the 2026 Taranto Mediterranean Games with a haul of 58 medals, comprising 23 gold, 16 silver, and 19 bronze.

This edition saw Egypt equal the record for the number of gold medals, reaching 23, a record previously set in the 1959 Beirut edition when the country participated under the name of the United Arab Republic.

The Egyptian delegation also succeeded in surpassing the number of medals achieved in the 2022 Oran edition, where Egypt had won 51 medals at the time, as the Pharaohs secured 58 medals in the current edition.

Consequently, the Egyptian delegation's achievement in this edition is the fourth-highest number of medals in Egypt's history, following the 1959 Beirut edition with 74 medals, then the 2013 Mersin edition with 67 medals, and then the first edition in the tournament's history in 1951, when Egypt won 65 medals.

Egypt also outperformed Arab countries in this edition, leading the standings among Arab nations with 58 medals, ahead of Morocco with 39 medals so far, and Algeria with 43 medals.

The current edition of the Mediterranean Games saw fin swimmers win 12 medals of various types.

Egypt's second handball team also won the gold medal after defeating Greece 31-29.

Egypt excelled in the fencing competitions at the Games, winning 5 medals of various types, including 2 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze. Although Spain achieved the same number of medals, the gold medals tipped the scale in favor of the Pharaohs.

Egypt also outperformed in the karate competitions, winning 5 medals, including 3 gold and 2 bronze, which tipped the scale in favor of the Pharaohs despite Italy and Turkey each winning 6 medals, but neither secured any gold medals.

Egypt also outperformed in the table tennis competitions, winning 5 medals, including 2 gold and 3 silver, ahead of Italy, which won 3 medals.

Egypt continued its dominance in the tournament, leading the weightlifting competitions with 10 medals of various types, including 7 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze, outperforming Italy, which won 11 medals, and Turkey, which won 10 medals of various types. However, the gold medals tipped the scale in favor of the Pharaohs over Italy and Turkey, as Italy won only 4 gold medals, while Turkey won only 2 gold medals.

The Egyptian delegation competed in 23 sports at the Mediterranean Games: archery, athletics, badminton, 3x3 basketball, boxing, canoe and kayak, equestrian, fencing, aquatics and short course swimming, gymnastics, handball, judo, karate, padel, rowing, sailing, shooting, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, fin swimming, and amateur sliding.
