Media personality Ahmed Shobier revealed the truth behind the rumors that referee Mohamed Marouf asked Wael Gomaa, the football manager of Al Ahly Club, to substitute Ali Mahmoud, the team's player, against Zed because he had not been sent off.

Media personality Karim Hassan Shatata had stated in a television interview on Al Hayat channel that he had information that referee Mohamed Marouf told Wael Gomaa, "Take Ali Mahmoud off because I won't be able to protect him again."

Shobier said in a statement via his radio program this Sunday morning: "Without consulting any sources, I say that this is impossible, because every word said by the referee is recorded."

He added: "Because if that had actually happened, the referee would face a suspension of at least three or four months. This is impossible by any rational standard, without any sources."
