Al-Shorta Iraqi Club announced the appointment of Sami Trabelsi as coach of the team.
The appointment of Trabelsi as coach of the team comes despite previous negotiations with Moataz Jamal, coach of Zamalek.
Trabelsi's most recent experience was with the Tunisia national team, and he departed after the team's exit from the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Trabelsi assuming the coaching of Al-Shorta Iraq may open the door for Moataz Jamal to continue leading the White during the upcoming season.
Moataz Jamal is currently in Turkey to spend a family vacation after winning the Egyptian League title with Zamalek.
In his second stint with Zamalek, the White achieved 16 wins, 7 losses, and 4 draws under Moataz's leadership, reached the Confederation Cup final, and won the league title.
Al-Shorta concluded the 2025-26 Iraqi League season with 82 points in second place behind Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya.
Al-Shorta will participate next season in the AFC Champions League 2.
Moamen Soliman previously coached Al-Shorta Iraq, winning the league title three times, the Iraq Cup once, and the Iraqi Super Cup once.
