Zamalek Club announced the death of Maryam Esmat, captain of the women's volleyball team and former member of the club's board of directors.
Zamalek Club and its board of directors, headed by Hussein Labib, mourned Maryam Esmat, who passed away this morning, Thursday.
Maryam Esmat was one of the stars of Zamalek's golden generation in women's volleyball.
Maryam also captained both the Zamalek team and the Egyptian women's national team during her playing career.
The funeral prayer for the deceased is scheduled to be held today, Thursday, October 1, 2026, after the Asr prayer, at Hassan El-Sharbatly Mosque.
It is worth noting that Maryam Esmat was the wife of the late Ali El-Sergany, former president of the Egyptian Volleyball Federation.
