Yahia Alderaa, a handball player for Veszprém, clarified that the Egyptian national team has overcome its inferiority complex against foreign teams.

Hungary's Veszprém won the IHF Men's Super Globe after defeating Barcelona 42-33.

Yahia Alderaa said via ON Sport: "I haven't seen the Egyptian fans in a long time, but I saw their support against Barcelona. Playing in Egypt is very special, and I strongly wanted to win the Super Globe."

He added, "I told my non-Egyptian teammates that the arena would not be empty and that fans would be there to support us, which is exactly what happened."

He continued, "We have been working on the dream of winning a medal with Egypt at the World Cup for 5-6 years."

He concluded, "We have more spirit and boldness than foreigners. We have gotten rid of the 'inferiority complex' and gained confidence. We play and give lessons to opponents in handball. We won the Youth World Championship and secured an Olympic medal."

Veszprém player Yahia Alderaa participated in the match and led his team to victory.

Sif Alderaa, Yahia's brother, plays for Barcelona.

The Egyptian quartet consisting of Yahia Alderaa, Ahmed Hisham "Dodo", Ali Zein, and Ahmed Adel "Dola" are part of the Veszprém team.

Spanish coach Javier Pascual manages both Veszprém and the Egyptian national team.

This is the second time Veszprém has won the tournament. The first was in 2024, also featuring Yahia Alderaa, who was the only Egyptian player in the squad at that time.

In 2025, Barcelona won the title led by Sif Alderaa.

Sif Alderaa lifted the trophy in 2025 despite not being the captain at the time, as his teammates encouraged him to do so because the tournament was held in Egypt.

Yahia Alderaa will lift the trophy as the captain of Veszprém.

Danish goalkeeper Emil Nielsen of Veszprém received the Man of the Match award.

Nielsen previously played for Barcelona before moving to Veszprém.

Veszprém player Hugo Descat was the top scorer in the match with 10 goals.

With this, the final standings of the tournament are complete: Veszprém as champions, followed by Barcelona with the silver medal, Al Ahly with the bronze, and Zamalek finishing fourth.
