Spanish player Dani Olmo, a member of FC Barcelona's first football team, condemned Atlético Madrid's stubborn stance and their refusal to sell Julián Álvarez to the Catalan club throughout the past summer transfer window.

Julián Álvarez was the biggest headache for everyone following the 2026/2027 transfer market due to the ongoing conflict between Barcelona and Atlético Madrid over him.

Barcelona sought to sign him to compensate for the departures of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, who recently moved to Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Atlético Madrid's stubborn position prevented the deal from being completed, as they officially confirmed that Álvarez would not be sold to any Spanish club.

Dani Olmo stated in remarks quoted by the newspaper "Sport": "I do not understand Atlético Madrid's position; ultimately, each of us has our own dreams, and Julián dreamed of joining us. He fought hard to achieve his dream but was not destined to succeed. Nothing is impossible, life goes on."

Regarding Laporta's decision not to hold a ceremony for the international players after winning the World Cup, he said: "We understood and respected Barcelona's decision that the time was not yet right for such an honor; we know the club values us greatly."

Olmo concluded regarding his ambitions: "The World Cup is now in the past; we are now looking forward to winning the UEFA Champions League."

Under the leadership of Hans Flick, Barcelona aims to return once again to the Champions League podium and win the title for the sixth time in the club's history, following their last victory in 2015 under Luis Enrique.
